Welcome to The Practical Sportsman! Glad you are here.

The practical sportsman is a blog dedicated to American outdoorsmen and women who want to enrich their outdoor experience. So, let’s be serious here, how many people are tired of seeing hunting influencers holding 200-inch whitetail telling you to purchase a million-dollar farm and manage it daily to harvest an animal? Sick of seeing monster bucks on trial-cam photos with guys saying they need to give them another year. Or tired of advice from hunters who wouldn’t have an idea on how to hunt public land that isn’t zero pressure and managed for them specifically?

Hey, I personally have a demanding career, a wife and two kids, as well as a mortgage and car payments. The majority of us don’t have a small, or not so small, fortune to spend on our hobby. We also have obligations that don’t allow us to spend every day of the season, and most of the off-season, in the woods or on the water pursuing game. So, where do I go for practical advice and tips that I can work into my busy schedule and help me become more successful, and enjoy the limited time and resources I have to put towards my hobby?

Well, you are in the right place with good company. In the practical sports we are going to break down and explain tactics that you can implement to your hunting strategy even with limited time and budget. We are going to review products so the finances you do put towards your hobby produce the best results. And finally, we are going to explain the lessons and mistakes we had to learn the hard way to help you get the most out of your adventure. With primary focus on big game and turkey hunting, as well as fishing in the Midwest, I hope to at least give some advice that you can use to help you become a little more successful.
